Yesterday we told you that the Season 9 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) had surpassed 1,000 entrants, shattering last year’s turnout of just over 800 players. Well, it turns out the EPT Barcelona had an even stronger turnout than first expected, topping off at 1,082 entrants and breaking the record for an EPT event in Spain.
A total of 679 players registered for the tournament on Monday, which caused some 30 players to have to be placed on the alternates list as the poker room couldn’t accommodate more than 640 players. All told, some 600 players will be back in action for Day 2 of the tournament on Tuesday, all gunning for the first place prize of over €1,000,000.
