The OnGame Network has just released “Strobe Poker”, which is a new fast-fold poker variant. We recently reported on the sale of the network to Amaya Gaming. Since taking over the network, Amaya has completed several software partnership deals.
Today, Strobe Poker was soft launched and is currently only available on the dot-com poker skins on the network. Betfair Poker and Betsson Poker both have the new poker variant available. Roughly 20 brands launched Strobe Poker across the network.
Right now there are only two player pools to join on the network at low stakes. Both player pools are NL Holdem and the stakes available are only $.05/$.10 and $.15/$.30. However, higher stake player pools will be launching very shortly according to Amaya.
OnGame didn’t launch any play money tables for Strobe Poker, so you can only try out the new variant on play money tables. I’m sure the player money tables will become available in the future, but the launching the real money tables were more important.
How to Play Strobe Poker
With a handful of fast-fold poker variants already established in the market, I’m sure most players have tried one. If you haven’t played a fast-fold poker variant yet it’s simple. Rather than play on a single table you play against a pool of players.
There is an option to quick fold your hand on fast-fold poker tables like Strobe Poker. When you fold your hand you instantly get moved to a new poker table against different players to play another hand. You can play upwards of 300+ hands per hour.
Apart from the ability to fast fold your hand and moving to a new table the rules are exactly the same. Strobe Poker is designed for the poker player that wants to be able to play in as many pots as possible and is great for casual players with limited time.
Strobe Poker allows players to buy into the same pool twice. Your two entries in a pool will never be seated at the same table, but it allows you to multi-table. However, most fast-fold poker variants allow you to have up to four entries at once.
Strobe Poker Promotion
Starting on March 11th – March 24th 2013 the OnGame Network is running a network wide promotion. You don’t need to opt-in to the promotion either. The top 500 players on the Strobe Poker leaderboard will share $12,500 in cash prizes.
Any player that plays in at least 10 hands of the new Strobe Poker variant will also be entered into a freeroll tournament that will take place on March 27th 2013 at 20:00 CET. Your freeroll ticket will be credited to your account on March 26th 2013.
Rush Poker (Full Tilt) was the 1st fast-fold poker variant to launch. Since then we’ve seen Zoom Poker (PokerStars), Speed Poker (iPoker), Blaze Poker (Microgaming) and FastForward Poker (PartyPoker). All have become popular and Strobe Poker will also.
