Omaha Hi Low Rules

Omaha Hi Low is basically the same as regular Omaha – If you have not read about Omaha rules yet, be sure to read our easy steps.

Once you are familiar with regular Omaha, you’ll notice it is played the same way with the exception that Omaha Hi Lo has two winning hands splitting the pot with the best (highest) poker hand, and the worst (lowest) poker hand.

OMAHA HI LOW RULES

Here is where it gets real interesting because of the split pot and two winning hand possibilities, Low poker hands cannot have any card higher that an 8 to qualify. If all players have at least 1 card higher than an 8, then the highest hand will take the whole pot instead of splitting it.

Another way to win the whole pot is by qualifying for both the Hi and Low poker hand. For instance, Aces count both as Hi and Low cards, so the best possible poker hand would be: A-2-3-4-5 of the same suit. Neither a “Straight” or a “Flush” count in the Low hand ranking, so even though this is a “Straight Flush” it is still both the highest and lowest hand possible – meaning you will take the whole pot.

The rest of the hand rankings and game are played the same as regular Omaha.
