The European Poker Tour (EPT) announces yesterday that it will host the largest-ever poker festival in Barcelona, Spain.
The festival actually be the EPT’s 100th event and will take place in August of this year.
EPT President Edgar Stuchly had the following to say about the festival.
The EPT was born in Barcelona so it’s very fitting to celebrate EPT’s 100th event in true style and with unforgettable poker. EPT Barcelona is one of the most popular tour stops and attracts players from all over the world for the fantastic mix of beaches, iconic architecture, party atmosphere and world class poker.
Since the first EPT event which was launched in 2004 they have welcomed over 180,000 players and during that time they visited a total of 16 different countries.
The most impressive feat of all is that the EPT has created 39 millionaires and paid out over €535,000,000 in prize money.
About EPT Barcelona
The EPT Barcelona will actually be the kick off event for Season 11 of the EPT. As part of the festival they will team up with the Spanish regional Estrellas Poker Tour which allow this stop to be a 12-day extravaganza of poker.
Last year this festival broke numerous records as the Estrellas and EPT Main Events had 1,798 and 1,234 entries. Soenke Jahn & Tom Middleton took home career-best cashes of €169,136 and €942,000 respectively.
