The information the poker world received during the lengthy “Lederer Files” interview may not have been what they were hoping for (there was o Bob Costas/Jerry Sandusky moment), but there are plenty of loose ends and side-stories that will play out in the coming weeks. Here is a look at some of the stories that have spun-off from the Lederer Files.
SrslySirius mashup and the “I Don’t Know” mashup
Howard Lederer’s responses throughout the three and a half hour interview (condensed down from over seven hours) were the butt of several jokes across the Internet, but nobody did a better job at creating a video summary of the “Lederer Files” than SrslySirius and an anonymous YouTuber; check them out below:
Negreanu and Juanda fire back at Full Tilt and Lederer
An interview at PokerListings.com saw Daniel Negreanu fire-off against Howard Lederer and Full Tilt Poker, defending his friends Phil Ivey and John Juanda against the allegations made by Lederer during his interview with PokerNews. Negreanu’s statements to PokerListings.com imply that Ivey and Juanda may speak out against Full Tilt in the future, something Juanda has already started to do on Twitter.
Here are a couple of Juanda’s more hard-hitting Tweets:
Howard didn’t mention in his interview that FTP management also stole 5.4M from my best friend@Erik_Seidel #LedererFiles
For the record, Howard Lederer was wrong when he said I was 2nd largest shareholder of FTP! Maybe he REALLY didn’t know!!??? #LedererFiles
I owe FTP $256K, was offered to settle for 80% but declined when I found out Ray, w/boards’ approval, was still taking home 200K+/mo post BF
Lederer announces two new interviews
This week we learned Lederer will be doing two more interviews in the coming days; the first with the 2+2 podcast hosts Mike Johnson and Adam Schwartz. The interview will be played on the 2+2 podcast this week. The second interview will be with poker blogger DiamondFlush, who was instrumental in leaking a ton of the information regarding Full Tilt Poker and the sale of the company from Black Friday all the way to breaking the story of the sale to PokerStars.
Who came out of the Lederer Files looking better than before?
Gus Hansen, John Juanda, Chris Ferguson. Hansen and Juanda came out looking much better than before, while Ferguson (one of the main culprits behind the downfall of Full Tilt) looks slightly better, but is still persona non grata in the poker world.
Who looks worse than they did before?
Erick Lindgren. Lindgren’s gambling habits were well-known, but if the story recounted by Howard Lederer is true, and Lindgren received an extra $2 million when he borrowed $2 million from the site he looks really bad. According to Lederer an oversight saw Lindgren get paid twice from the company and simply stalled sending the extra money back, eventually blowing them off.
