There will be two very important final tables taking place in San Remo, Italy today, as the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Main Event and High-Roller tournament final tables are set to be in action, and by the end of the day at least two poker players will be in very good moods. In the Main Event it’s the two chip-leaders, Jason Lavallee and Ludovic Lacay, headlining the final table, while in the High-Roller tournament it will be Joe Cheong, Kevin Stammen, and a pair of Germans in Phillip Gruissem and Benny Spindler who will headline the final table.
EPT San Remo Main Event
The Main Event’s 797 entrants is now down to just eight hopefuls, and while most of the big names have been eliminated along the way the remaining competitors have proven their skills at a poker table over the course of the five days leading up to the final table. On the line for these players will be the difference between the €800k set aside for the winner and the €65,450 the 8th place finisher will receive. Here is a look at the chip-counts heading into the final table of the Season IX EPT San Remo Main Event:
1. Jason Lavallee — 5,545,000
2. Ludovic Lacay — 5,366,000
3. Jason Tompkins — 3,605,000
4. Ismael Bojang — 2,845,000
5. Adrian Piasecki — 2,045,000
6. Angelo Recchia — 1,755,000
7. Micah Raskin — 1,550,000
8. Artem Litvinov — 800,000
When the players return today at 3 PM Local time they will find themselves in Level 27 with the blinds at 25,000/50,000 and a 5,000 chip ante. Short stack Artem Litvinov has a mere 16 Big Blinds and will be the only player in panic mode to start the final table; the chip leaders have around 100 Big Blinds in their stacks.
EPT San Remo High-Roller
The €10k High-Roller event attracted 84 players when it kicked-off three days ago, and will see the winner walk away with over €280k in prize-money, while the 7th place finisher at today’s final table will receive €32,900. Here is a look at the final table for the EPT High-Roller tournament:
1. Joel Nordkvist — 1,205,000
2. Benny Spindler — 844,000
3. Kevin Stammen — 744,000
4. Philipp Gruissem — 460,000
5. Joseph Cheong — 329,000
6. Igor Kurganov — 318,000
7. Kent Roed — 317,000
The final table of the High-Roller tournament will see the players begin in Level 19 with the blinds at 6,000/12,000 with a 2,000 chip ante. With a logjam at the bottom of the chip-counts the action should be fast and furious early on, where I expect a lot of raises and three-bet shoves from the shorter stacks who are all sitting on about 25-30 Big Blinds to begin the day.
