The World Series of Poker is going to be record setting this year for more than one reason. The Big One for One Drop is going to host a charity poker tournament at the 2012 WSOP and there are now 30 confirmed entries. What’s a bit odd is that under half of the entries are poker professionals up to this point. The $1M buy-in has a hefty price tag for most poker players, but since this is a charity event there are lots of businessmen interested in playing.
The prize pool for The Big One for One Drop has already exceeded $25M and the 1st place prize is over $12M. The 1st place prize is going to be the biggest 1st place prize ever rewarded to a winner of a poker tournament. The big question is will the poker pros be able to hold off the eager businessmen looking to steal the spotlight. I have a feeling that a few of the businessmen will be ready to show up the pros at the charity tournament later this year at the 2012 World Series of Poker.
Throughout May and June poker players in the United States will have a chance to win a seat into this massive event. There will be satellite tournaments hosted at brick and mortar casinos in May and June starting at $65. The goal is to make it through the steps satellite format to the finale satellite. The finale has a buy-in of $25.3K and a minimum of 1 seat will be up for grabs in the finale although a new seat will be added to the prize pool for every 40 entries in the finale.
Being able to win a seat into this event will be a dream come true for many young poker players. The playing field consists of the best poker players in the world and some of the richest businessmen in the USA. With over $25M in cash up for grabs during the tournament it could also change your life forever if you cash in the tournament. You can view a full list of the ongoing satellites on The Big One for One Drop website.
Poker Nordica Closes Shop for Good
If you have an account with Poker Nordica you’ve probably heard of the bad news. The Merge Gaming Network skin is closing shop permanently and if you have money on your account you only have until the end of the month to move your money over to another skin or off the network completely.
Poker Nordica is completing withdrawals until May 1st and at that point there is no more guarantee on being able to withdraw your money, so make sure you get it done now if you have money on your Poker Nordica account. VIP points on the skin will be cancelled and can’t be cashed out, which has many poker players very upset with Poker Nordica.
